Atlanta Cross Dock Services

Inbound trailer to outbound trailer, without the freight ever entering storage.

You need this when

  • A load has to be in two places, and warehousing it in between would blow the delivery date.
  • You are consolidating several inbound shipments into one outbound truck.
  • The receiving DC will not take the delivery until a set date and you need the trailer back now.
  • You are paying storage on freight that only needs to sit for a few hours.

What cross docking actually saves you

Storage is the expensive part of most freight problems — not the handling. Cross docking removes it: goods come off one truck, get sorted on the dock, and go straight onto the next. There is no put-away, no picking, no inventory to carry, and no storage charge attached to freight that was only ever passing through. It is the right answer when the delay is a routing problem rather than a demand problem.

Why this happens in Atlanta

Atlanta sits on I-75, I-85 and I-20, within a day's drive of much of the Southeast. That makes it a natural sort point for freight moving between the ports, the Midwest and the East Coast — a load can be broken, re-mixed and sent back out without a long deviation from its original lane. First To Final is based here, which is why this is a standing service rather than a favour.
